How to rank in the big 3 in 4 weeks

We are going to learn how to rank in GMB in no time flat.

Lets say we are ranking for “electrician” in Seattle, as an example.

Lets google it first to see what we get, an easy step, but easy to forget.

Check out the top 3 ranking to see what is there. What words are used, what is the format? how many reviews, what words are in bold? What are the 3 labelled as?

Write down the words that jump out at you, like “top”, “best” “top” or whatver you want.

What are you trying to rank for? Make sure that you see the words you want to go for.

The main thing with keywords is to go for the low competition, high search words. Ranking for “plumber” nationwide wont really be that attainable.

If you are in a bigger city, you can bet it will be more competitive. So ranking for electrican seattle is harder than ranking for a certain area in seattle or near seattle, get it? You can also go after a few areas together.

How many pages show up in google my business? If there are 100 then its harder than only 10 (no duh you might say). Stay with me this is logical stuff.

Find out how many competitors.

Now lets spy on the competitors back links.
Backlinks are links to you website from other sites, its kind of like a voting system that google has. The better or more authority a site has , the better a link to your site is. So a site like www.cnn.com is gold, but a crappy blog on toenails would be awful.

Make a list of the top 3 website that are in your niche so we can spy on them.

We are going to need a keywood tool program, like

Semrush www.SEMrush.com
Ahrefs www.ahrefs.com
Majestic https://majestic.com/

Sem rush has a free 7 day trial so lets start there.

Input the top 3 websites into semrush search tool and see what backlinks come out. How many and where are they from?

The more backlinks, the higher the competition. As long as they dont have thousands of links from www.time.com, we should be ok.

Also note the keywords that come up when you search these sites, they will be useful later.

Now lets check out page structure.

We need to build our site based on the main keyword- our main page.
We need to create a 1000–1500 word article with the main 10 keywords we want to make sure we are good to the seo gods.
Make sure we write the article well, google hates junky copy that says nothing. Use the keywords as much as we can, but dont stuff them in. Make them work. You want to use your main keyword about 3% of the time to keep google happy.

Add some pictures, a good rule is to add one for every 350 words of text to even things out. Pick some good free images on pixabay.com or pexels.com that are relevant to your niche, spy on your competitors for guidance.

Along with our main page article and keyword, pick out 3 other keywords to make seperate articles (500 to 1500 words).

We are going to link these articles after the home page in our site in a descending ladder, or a silo. It means they connect to each other and then through to the home page. We should then have 3000+ words of great content to make google happy.

Remember the 3% rule to include keywords.

1) Reviews are important

We want to get 3 to 5 reviews per week on our GMB for the next 3 weeks.
The review should be specific, “I was looking for an electrician in seattle, i called XYZ, their team came out they are awesome.” Include good keywords and the location in the review.

2)Posts every 3 days
Create images that have your logo, name, address and phone number in them. use Canva as its free and easy.
Insert the main keyword you want to rank for as a heading as well.
