6 Differences Between Studying in the UK and in America

Both America and the UK are marvelous study destinations. Moreover, both countries use the same language for communication and imparting training. However, despite many similarities, the UK offers a much better learning experience to students in comparison to America. Keeping this in mind, today we are sharing with you the six differences between studying in the UK and in America.

Declaring Major

In the USA, applicants don't need to declare their major till the end of the second year. This gives applicants enough time to explore all the options available to them. Moreover, students can also change their major at any time till the end of the second year. However, in the UK applicants have to select their major even before they arrive at college. Thus, you can’t change your majors later in the nation. So, if you are unsure about your majors then we suggest you must pursue your education in America. Cost of Education

There is a huge difference in the amount of money that both countries charge for giving education to students. But overall American learning institutions charge more money than British universities for giving education to students. On average British universities charge around £9,000 per year from students who enroll themselves in their UG programs. On the other hand, American universities charge between $29,000 to $50,000 from students who join their UG programs. Thus, if you seek to get affordable education then you must go to the UK for studies instead of the USA.

Length of Programs

Another noticeable difference between studying in both nations is the duration of courses. British universities offer shorter courses. However American universities don’t offer shorter courses to students. To complete a bachelor’s program in a British university you will need around 3 years. But in America, you will need around 4 years to complete a bachelor’s program. Similarly, the duration of master's learning programs is 1 year in British universities. On the other hand, the duration of master's learning programs is 2 years at American universities. Thus, if you seek to complete your education quickly then you must pursue your studies in the UK instead of America.

Study Methods

There is quite a big difference between the study methods that both countries use for imparting education to students. For instance, British universities focus on providing lectured-based training which includes occasional assessments. However, American universities don’t give that much emphasis on lectures. They give more emphasis on assessment-based training. What does this mean? It means that while studying in the nation you will have to give assessment tests almost every week. So, make sure you keep this information in mind while selecting any of the above nations for your education.

Accommodation

Both countries offer student halls to students who seek on-campus accommodation. However, in the UK you will rarely see any student sharing his room with other students. But in America, you will have to share your room with other students if you wish to get on-campus accommodation. So, if you don’t want to share your accommodation with anyone else while studying then you must study in the UK. However, if you have no problem sharing your accommodation with others then you can go to the USA for education.

Work Opportunities

Both US and the UK don’t give job guarantees to students who complete their studies in their universities. But there is a difference in the working regulations of both the countries. For example, if you study at an American institute then you can stay in the nation for approximately 60 days after your studies. However, to stay in the country you will have to either join another course or opt for OPT. On the other hand, if you complete your education at a British university then you can stay at the study destination for two years. Furthermore, you don’t have to join any other course to stay in the nation after graduation. To learn more about the working rules/regulations of the nation in more detail feel free to contact our study abroad consultants in Noida for UK.

Conclusion

As you can see both the study destinations have their pros and cons. But overall, the UK appears to be a better option than the US for completing studies. Thus, if you seek to complete your studies overseas then you should choose it instead of the USA.
