The Exynos 9611 SoC is a 64-bit octa-core design with eight CPU cores and four GPU cores, each running at speeds up to 2.7GHz. The CPU cores have been reworked, with Samsung promising up to 30 percent higher single-core and up to 50 percent higher multi-core performance than in previous Exynos SoCs.
The GPU cores have also been improved, with Samsung promising a 30 percent boost in graphics performance over the previous Exynos 9611 SoC. The SoC will support up to 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage.
The SoC incorporates Samsung's latest Intelligent Processing Unit (IPU), offering machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities. The Exynos 9611 SoC also integrates its 5G modem, with support for both sub-6GHz and mmWave bands.
The Snapdragon 855, which Samsung's Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9 will use, is already available in devices, while the Exynos 9611 is powering Samsung's Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A80 smartphones.
