Over the past five years, major car manufacturers have invested huge sums in electric vehicles. For example, the Volkswagen concern in 2017 promised to release 80 new models of electric vehicles under its group brands by 2025, as well as electric versions of all its cars by 2030. In the same 2017, GM announced plans to release at least 20 new electric vehicle models by 2023.

Nowadays, electric cars are gradually becoming commonplace. More and more people are thinking about changing their petrol-powered vehicle to an electric car or at least a hybrid. And there is absolutely nothing surprising in this because electric vehicles have many advantages.

So, naturally, the main advantage of electric vehicles is their environmental friendliness. Most likely you are aware that ordinary cars in the process of operation emit a lot of substances that pollute the environment. At the same time, electric vehicles emit absolutely nothing during operation. Therefore, they are completely safe for the environment. When driving an electric vehicle, no harmful exhaust gases are emitted. And this is perhaps one of the main arguments of the adherents of this type of transport. The issue of environmental protection is very important. In contrast, fans of gasoline cars remind us that the very production of electric vehicles and batteries is no less harmful than the production of internal combustion engines. This is true, but the operation of electric cars is much more environmentally friendly.

If you travel around the city in a private car, then most likely you know how expensive gasoline is. Some car enthusiasts are forced to spend a relatively large portion of their wages just to get around the city comfortably. However, electric cars do not run on gasoline, but on electricity, which is much cheaper. So driving an electric car will cost you significantly less. The cost of electricity, which underlies the operation of an electric car, is several times cheaper than any liquid fuel.

Surprisingly, many people do not understand how to charge an electric vehicle. It's actually very simple. The fact is that electric cars can easily be charged from an ordinary outlet. Of course, the electric car will charge a little longer from the outlet than from a special charging station. However, most likely you will agree that this is not a big problem, because you do not have to waste your time at gas stations.

A very significant advantage of electric vehicles is their noiselessness. During operation, the electric car engine is almost completely silent. Thanks to this, you will ride with maximum comfort. The operation of electric cars is much quieter than gasoline engines, therefore, a loud sound damping system is not required, it is possible to save money on interior noise insulation.

Simple and lightweight design

There are significantly fewer rubbing parts in the electric motor. In practice, this means that the electric car does not need regular maintenance.

Good battery - longer life

Most modern electric cars use 4 types of batteries. The most common are lithium-ion, aluminum-ion, and lithium-sulfur. Sometimes they also use metal-air ones, were zinc, lithium, sodium, magnesium or aluminum act as the metal.

Lithium-ion batteries are the most common option for installation in electric vehicles. The advantages of such power supplies are:

• the high density of accumulated energy
• higher voltage compared to other types of batteries
• small self-discharge - up to 6% per month, up to 20% per year
• almost complete absence of the "memory effect", due to which new batteries need to be "trained" using several charge/discharge cycles
• relatively long service life - not less than 1000 cycles or 10 years
• Not the best characteristics of such batteries can be called the high cost, which affects the price of the car, and poor resistance to overcharge.

So with good quality batteries, your car will serve you for years.

And of course, it's worth mentioning that some people think that electric cars are too low in power. However, in reality, this is just a delusion. In fact, the power of an electric vehicle is quite enough to move confidently in traffic!
