Things to Do in Kota

The city of Kota is referred to as the coaching capital of India. But there is a lot more to the city rather than coaching. It happens to be the third largest city in Rajasthan and millions of students touch base in the city for their IIT and medical entrance coaching exams. Even if you are there for a couple of days there are plenty of places to visit. But it has to be said that there are not a lot of historical places to visit here in comparison to the other cities of Rajasthan.

More about Kota

In the southeast part of Rajasthan Kota is situated on the banks of the Chambal River. The border of Madhya Pradesh is close to the city of Kota. In fact,it has one of the busiest railway lines of the country and a lot of trains pass through the city. On the west central railway Kota happens to be a major railway station. From Kota the nearest airport is 250 km that is Jaipur. It is well connected through all the cities of Rajasthan via the RSRTC bus services.

The things that you can indulge and do in Kota

It has been mentioned that Kota is situated on the banks of the Chambal River. There is the Chambal Garden that is developed on the banks of the river that can be used for recreational purposes. Though it is 3 km away from the Kota city center but still it is not outside the city. This is a beautiful garden that is well- maintained with wonderful plants and trees.

There is a toy train in Chambal Garden and not only it is popular among the kids but even the adults too. For the family and friends this may turn out to be a perfect picnic sport. The riverfront of Chambal is well- developed and there are numerous places where you can sit. During the course of your visit, you will find numerous picnics taking places.

In the middle portion of the park there is a pond, and one has to cross a hanging bridge. Before you go on to visit the pond, it may seem that there are going to be crocodiles in the pond. But during the course of the trip, people are not likely to come across any crocodiles. There was less water in the pond, but in spite of that you can cross the hanging bridge though it went on to make noise and it is better to sway before reaching there. The ticket cost is Rs 5 and there is no camera ticket in reaching out to the place. In the interiors of the garden area there is a food stall where soft drinks, water and a few soft drinks are served.

Apart from that boating facilities are available in the Chambal River. The boarding point is Chambal Garden. A couple of boating options are available in the form of a speed boat service and the super speed boat.

The seven wonders Park Kota

The moment you visit Kota city you can catch a glimpse of the Kota city. It is near to the railway station and the illuminated light is something of a delight.  People tend to fall in love with this place just like Maheshwari resort Kota and decide to spend their time here. On the banks of the river Kishor Nagar the seven wonders are build. The miniature of the famous monuments was made nicely and goes on to attract tourists from all over the world.

The place is maintained and clean. At the end of the park there is a row of cafes that is ideal from a refreshment point of view. Behind the restaurant area there are washrooms too, but personally I may not be able to vouch when it comes to the cleanliness of all those. A couple of exits are available to this place but only a single gate is kept open. Normally the second gate to the garden was locked when it is locked. The garden tends to look beautiful at night when it is illuminated, once we went on to visit the place. The entry fees for the locals is Rs 20 whereas for the foreigners it is Rs 40. The park is open for all days from 2.30 pm to 8 .00 pm at night.

Jag Mandir and Kishore Nagar

KishorSagar is also referred by the name of Big lake by the locals in Kota. It is a man- made lake that was developed by a Bundi prince when Kota was a part of the Bundi kingdom. In the year 1740 a palace termed as Jag Mandirwas developed at the center of Jag Mandir. The place can be reached by boat, but when I visited the place, it was closed due to unknown reasons. Boating along with ski rides are an integral feature of the place.

Kishor Nagar is a lake that is open from all ends. At one end of Kishor Nagar is seven wonders park and at the opposite side you may come across the Chowpati region. This is an area that is popular among the locals due to the numerous food stalls there. But it has to be said that the water of the KishorSagar is not clean and it requires regular maintenance.

Hanging bridge

The Kota Chambal bridge is also referred to as the Hanging bridge and it is popular among the masses. A lot of people have gone on to give their nod of approval to the bridge. This happens to be a cable styled suspension bridge that is around 10 km away from the city of Kota. If you have gone on to witness the seven cable bridge in Bandra then you may better skip the bridge. These are some of the popular tourist attractions in the city of Kota Rajasthan. So it is better that you plan a visit to the location at the earliest.
