Side Effects of Sweets and Artificial Sweeteners

Side effects of sweets are a real bane for those who love them. You know how they make you feel like you're on drugs when you have too many pieces or how they can spike your blood sugar level.

While most people are aware of the cons of sugary treats, very few know that certain foods and drinks can cause these same side effects.

Side effects of sweets

Coffee, tea and other caffeinated drinks can cause irregular heartbeat, diarrhea and headaches. Sugar causes a spike in blood sugar levels which can cause dizziness and lightheadedness. While most of us think of these things as typical side effects of a cup of coffee or chocolate bar, they can be just as dangerous to your health.

Consuming sugary foods can give you more energy, but it also means that you will feel tired after eating less. Sugar feeds the brain and causes you to feel tired. Your body will feel tired, even if you aren't, making it tough to stay focused at work or school.

When you eat less sugar, you will find that your body will get more energy in return. This boost will help you through the day without bringing about unwanted side effects.

Sweet snacks like caramel Are caramel bad for dogs? are loaded with calories and, oftentimes, empty calories. This is why the fattest days of the year are when you have a tendency to eat carbs-rich foods such as cookies, bagels and candy instead of water or natural fruit juice.

One of the worst things you can do when you feel hungry is consuming sugary snacks. If you have an addiction, your body will become dependent on the feeling that you get from consuming the sugary snack.

When you avoid sweets altogether, your body will be able to adjust itself and won't crave the feeling of empty calories anymore.

If you feel sleepy after eating sweets, try eating more protein-rich foods instead. Protein-rich foods have been known to reduce the number of carbohydrates you take in, so this means you will feel more alert when you eat them compared to the same meal with high carbohydrates.

You can also replace the bar with a protein bar or fish sandwich that contains real fish or chicken breast instead of the candy bar.

Not everyone has high blood sugar levels that require artificial sweeteners. Some people just need a little bit of added sweetness.

If you do have a sweet tooth, try making a fruit smoothie. It's a healthy alternative to drinking soda or other artificial sweeteners. When you add fruit extracts or even honey, you can easily make a nutritious treat that satisfies cravings and doesn't make you feel tired or hungry.

Some people who love sweets may be prone to insulin dependency. If you are one of these individuals, try cutting back slowly. Start by decreasing the number of sweets you consume per meal.

If you eat a lot during lunch, eat a couple of grapes instead. If you normally consume a large amount at dinner, split your sweets up so you won't feel like you've eaten too much. This way, you will avoid the feeling of being overindulgent after you've had a large amount to eat.

There are other side effects of sweets that are linked to canine nutrition. If you're feeding your dog a commercial brand of kibble, you may find that this type of sweet is much higher in calories than treating you make yourself.

This is because commercial brands often use higher-calorie ingredients in order to keep costs down. In addition, some kibble brands use meat meal as a filler. If you switch to using homemade treats for your dog, you'll notice a reduction in calories but an increase in nutrient content.

This could mean that you'll have to buy a different brand of dog food or make healthier treats yourself, but you'll be able to enjoy all the healthy benefits that eating kibble offers your pet.

If you are considering trying to feed your dog a wide variety of different foods, you should also consider trying to lower the amount of sugar you consume.

Whether you switch to a rice cereal diet or just try eating protein through a meat-based treat, by simply monitoring the amount of sugar you consume and making sure you are getting enough protein in your dog's diet, you can help him maintain a healthy energy level.

If you follow these simple tips, you'll soon find that you don't have to feel sleepy when you have a dog - instead, you'll have a friend who feels energetic all day long!
